The Council of the College of Midwives has received a recommendation from the Practice Review Committee regarding communication with prospective clients. As such the College would like to share this with all Midwives.
“The College is reminding Registered Midwives that when they communicate midwifery experience with clients, they should specify the year that they:
- – Received Full Registration in Alberta
- – Graduated from a CMA approved program in Canada or passed the Canadian and Alberta Examinations
If midwives choose to refer to the number of births they have attended, they should make it clear how many of those births were attended as Canadian Registered Midwives.
Midwives are also expected to inform clients of the category of their registration, including any restrictions. eg) Full, New Registrant, Restricted”
